The Hale Kula Book Fair will be open to families February 4-14, from 7:00 am - 2:00 pm.  Parents are invited to shop the fair during the school day.  Students will be visiting the fair with their classes and parents are welcome to join their children to shop.  Please meet your child's class at the book fair.

Yearbook
The announcement for our annual Love Note has been sent home.  Love Notes are $10 each.  They can include a short note from you to your child and a photo.  Photos must be emailed.  You are welcome to email the note but the note cannot be published unless payment is received, be sure to label your payment with your child’s name.  Love Notes and money are due by Mon February 3rd.  Thank You!   halekulayearbook@yahoo.com

9th Annual Jump Rope For Heart will be held this coming Wednesday, Feb.5th.
Have student dress comfortable with tennis shoes and shorts/T-shirt and bring water bottles.
Please encourage everyone to bring one Dollar, $1, and give to American Heart Association to help children with “Special Hearts”.  Hale Kula’s goal will be to collect $1,000.

Each Grade level will have Twenty (20) Minutes to jump to music.

: Special Education, what do I need to know?
            Special education in Hawai'i is provided under the Hawai'i Administrative Rules Chapter 60 for all eligible children. Parents and family members who attend this workshop will gain an improved understanding of special education for their child with a disability or a suspected disability. This workshop will help explain the processes from referral, evaluation, determining eligibility and developing an Individualized Education Program (IEP).

1/17 - 1/25


Art Afterschool is Thurs. Jan. 23 and 30.  Bright green flier came home this week. We hope many families attend this fun event funded by the HUI.  Come to the grassy area behind the cafeteria after school, enjoy snacks, there will be a short PTO meeting. Then our art teacher will give instructions on technique and we all make art.  Return the following Thursday to paint and finish your creation.  Then let it dry here over night and return Jan. 31 to pick up your original art.  If you wish to enter it in the Book Fair piñata contest, you can take it to the library with appropriate paperwork.

Free training for parents and professionals on Children’s Challenging Behavior: What it is and what you can do about it. 2 doctors provide tips and tools on Jan. 27 from 6pm – 8pm at Mililani High School. Register at hawaiibcbagirl@yahoo.com

Winners of the Volunteer and Staff of the Quarter Gift Card

The Hale Kula Volunteer of the Quarter is Mrs. Petre who was nominated by Miss Goto in I3.  Miss Goto nominated a number of her parents for helping in the classroom.  We appreciate all of our volunteers!  Thank you for giving your time to support our Hale Kula students and staff, and congratulations to Mrs. Petre.  She wins a $50 Outback Steakhouse gift card!

The staff winner of the $50 gift card drawing is Carmen Pita.  Mrs. Pita is one of our math coaches, and she was nominated for assisting as a First Lego League volunteer judge, helping out with the Student Council. and volunteering with various school activities including the Cross Country Meet and Turkey Trot.  Congratulations, Mrs. Pita!  Enjoy your dinner at Outback Steakhouse!
