Green Eggs and Ham breakfast on March 1 is fun way to start the day with celebrating Dr.Suess birthday. $2.40 for adult meals and students meal will be deducted from their lunch account. (exact change is appreciated)  In addition to yummy breakfast, families can make a book mark, touch ooblek and take a picture with the Cat in the Hat. All this before school starts. Breakfast this day only starts serving at 7am and all students should be in class before the bell at 7:55

Yearbook sales continue through the end of March. Order forms available in the office.

Next Wednesday, Feb. 24 Hale Kula has the opportunity of having a professional sculptor teach us techniques for creating in clay. Families are invited to the cafeteria 6pm – 7:30pm.  Kim Duffett has built large sculptural pieces in many public places . And he will be building a special sculpture to be on display in front of our new library. RSVP no later than Feb. 22 to Ellen_Petry@notes.k12.hi.us

Students in grades 3, 4 & 5 are invited to Thursday Crafternoon, afterschool February 25 from 2:15-4:00 in Hale Kula's Makerspace, F4.  The featured craft will be fancy duct tape wallets and coin purses.  Because we're purchasing fancy duct tape and velcro closures, we will charge participating students $1 for this Crafternoon.  Register your child here:  https://goo.gl/5SSz00  We will email you a confirmation.  Limited to the first 20 students.

Mon. Feb. 22              Jump Rope for Heart – suggested $1.00 donation to American Heart Association. Every grade level comes out to donate and jump rope for 20 minutes.      Wear good jumping shoes and a belt to keep your pants from jumping off

                      Sculptor Kim Duffett 6pm – 7:30pm in the cafeteria. Families will hear presentation about new sculpture and art in public places. Then we get trained my professional in creating our own clay masterpiece.

Thurs. Feb. 25     Copy Training 8:10am – 9:10am meet in PCNC office and walk to D4 to operate machines – No kids allowed at this training

                      PTO General Membership Meeting 1:30 – 2:05 in the cafeteria. Hear about what the PTO had done and what they have planned. Taste samples of bread from Spring fund raiser

Thursday Crafternoon!  
Students in grades 3-5 are invited to Thursday Crafternoon, February 18, from 2:15-4:00 in F4. Students who were waitlisted for the last session will be given first priority & will be contacted directly via email. Sat. Feb. 13 Wahiawa Historical Society’s annual meeting at Wahiawa Botanical Garden. Local History Buff Callman Au will be speaking about his family farm near Wheeler AAF and more. Au is a 1950 graduate of Leilehua and taught agriculture there for many years. He has been chairman of the Kunia Orchid Society the last 15 years.

Hale Kula Elementary communicates student meal account information with families through white, blue, or yellow slips of papers that are sent home with students.
Slips are typically handed out the day after the print date on the top of the slip.
WHITE slips of paper are a receipt for payment.
BLUE slips of paper indicate that there are 3 meals remaining on your child's account, time to make a payment!
         *You will receive a blue slip every day until a deposit is made.
YELLOW slips of paper indicate a NEGATIVE balance.  We are not permitted to carry negative balances on meal accounts.
         Please send your child to school with a deposit or pack a home lunch.
         *You will receive a yellow slip and phone call / email every day until a deposit is made.

Sat, Feb 6   Wheeler Middle School community yard sale in their parking lot from 8-2.  Many families selling their goods in one central location, making it a one-stop convenient shopping experience for garage sale shoppers!

Sat. Feb. 6  Foster Care Trainings by the Hawaiian Humane Society from 9am – 10am FREE.  Class for those interested in fostering pets at 2700 Waialae Ave call 356-2222

Fri. Feb. 5 & Sat. Feb. 6 Chinatown rings in the Year of the Monkey with a 2 day party at the Chinatown Cultural Plaza. The free festivities run from 5pm – 10pm on Friday and 10am – 10pm on Sat. Expect lots of dancing, food, crafts and culture. Visit chinesechamber.com for more info.
