                       Lunch Reminders for Monday May 23/16

With only 4 more days in the school year, we will not be permitted to give loans.  Please make sure your children have enough funds to cover their meals for the next 4 days.

We send home little blue notes if a student's lunch account is low ~ down to 1 or less meals.  You may also phone us to ask how much is remaining in a given account.

If your child is returning to Daniel K. Inouye Elementary (formerly Hale Kula ;-) any left over funds will be rolled over to the next school year.  Thank you, A. Leinau, vice principal   

          Full Paying Lunches at $2.50 each need $10.00 ... lunch & breakfast $14.40.           Reduced Price Lunches at $0.40 each need $1.60 ... lunch & breakfast $2.80.

Moving this summer?? Hopefully your turned in notice to the office weeks ago. They need time to prepare all your final paperwork. Release packets will be ready on Friday May 27th after 12pm.  The office is open all summer 7:30am - 4pm except on holidays.

Monday, May 23 will be the last Book Swap for the year. Stop by the cafeteria 2 - 2:30 and bring one book and take 2. That's right, I have too many books so if you bring 1 kids book to swap, then take 2  off the table.  Also purchase refreshing icey pops for 50 cents.

Volunteers are appreciated!!! Check out the bulletin board with purple paper on the cafeteria as you are leaving school.  Hopefully we have your name spelled correctly. Please know that all our volunteers are so needed. We appreciate your help with homework check in, field trips, listening to kids read, preparing supplies at home, and so much more.

With final assemblies and graduation the parking lot can be very full. Please give yourself enough time to get parked legally and safely. Then enter the cafeteria where seating might be limited. Thank you for understanding that we all want to see our kids succeed and celebrate their accomplishments. Space might be tight but will be better next year with completion of the covered play court to hold large school events.

5/20 - 5/26

Next week there are 2 award assemblies. If you received a white letter that is for Award Assembly on Monday morning. There are 2 assemblies- 1 for upper grades and 1 for lower. Monday honors Physical Fitness and other yearly awards. If you received folded blue invitation that is for Super Eagle of the Quarter Assembly on Wednesday at 8:30. 2 students are nominated each quarter by their teacher and this is the 4^th assembly of the year.

 Yearbooks are sold out. School T shirts are on sale for $6.00 in P15 B

Parents who have students with medication in the health room. Please remember to pick it up for the summer. We cannot hold medications over the summer break. At that time you can also pick up the medication form if you'd like to have medication stored in the health room for SY 2016/17.

Lost and Found items will be donated when school ends. Check out the items outside cafeteria on bench.

After school Friday and all next week - Check out the Volunteer Appreciation Bulletin Board on the outside of cafeteria. Hale Kula appreciates all the 235 parents that have donated their time to making the school and classrooms a better place.

May 21       Emergency Preparedness Fair at Mililani High cafeteria from 10am – 2pm. Featuring experts and resources to help families get ready for disasters. May 21       Therapeutic Horsemanship of Hawaii Horse Show and Country Fair Fundraiser at Waimanalo Polo Field from 9am – 2pm, Free. Therapeutic Horsemanship of Hawaii hosts its annual fundraiser with plenty of games, food, vendors, pony rides, tack sales, bounce houses and more 342-9036

5/13 - 5/20

Field Day --Students with outstanding library books, lunch loans  or other debt to the school cannot participate. Each grade level comes to the back field and goes to stations like obstacle course, sack race, parachute and more.  No stations getting wet. Students should wear closed toe shoes and comfortable clothes to have fun and play in. Students can bring water bottles to the field. Parents can help by donating water bottles by the case by Wednesday.  Parents are welcome to come to the field and go to activities with their children, schedule listed below.

Fri. May 13         May Day celebration and performances by the whole school 8:45 – 10:30.  Parents might want to bring chairs to the front field.

Mon. May 16        Boxtops and Labels for education pick up from classrooms. They might expire if you keep them all summer, so turn them in to your classrooms by Monday morning. Over $3000 raised this year.

May 14       Dodgeball Tournament at iTrampoline Hawaii from 2pm – 9pm. Watch a family friendly dodgeball tournament with both youth and adult teams, plus live entertainment, food, and talent from Hawaii Drum-Science Academy

May 14 & 15 New Baby Expo at Blaisdell Exhibition Hall from 10am – 5pm. $5.50 admission fee. Find everything you could need for your new baby, with booths and vendors. Plus a crawling contest, entertainment, activities and more. Newbabyexpo.com

Student Lunch Accounts:  As our current school year winds to a close, please understand that we can no long accept checks for lunch deposits.  Cash only please and thank you!  As of May 20th, with only 5 days left, we would appreciate having sufficient funds in each child's lunch account to cover the final few days. 

Regularly priced meals at $2.50 = $12.50, for breakfast & lunch $18.00.   If you receive reduced priced meals, lunch only $2.00, for breakfast and lunch $3.50. 

A paper was sent home April 18th for parents to indicate if you will be leaving the island or changing schools and how we should handle any left over funds.

Even if you missed the May 2nd deadline, please turn in the signed paper at your earliest convenience.

Unfortunately, even though we keep reminding parents that they should not bring anything to share (cookies, cupcakes etc) that have nuts in them ... someone brought in cookies that contained almond extract and an allergic child had a reaction! 

FYI we even have a couple of students who react to the smell of peanut butter so they sit with those children buying school lunch as our kitchen is nut free zone.

If your child(ren) are missing any clothing or food containers, please take a look on the table fronting the cafeteria for lost and found items. Any items remaining on the table on the last day of school will be donated.

Yearbooks are in! Preorder pickups only will be in PTO room P15B on May 6 before school 7:30 – 8 and afterschool 1:30 – 2:30.  Other yearbook sales will start Monday, May 9 afterschool 1:30 – 2:30 every day and Wednesday 12:30 – 1:30.  Softcover Yearbooks are available for $25.00 on a first come first serve basis.

Educational displays, crafters and lots of free information and products for you and your pets. Your pets are welcome! (dogs must be leashed). 

May 7        Pacific Roller Derby stages a free derby game at 3pm at Mililani Hockey Rink in Kaoma’aiku Neighborhood Park (95-100 Makaunulau Street)  Refreshments are for sale, donations welcome. Katie74ramirez@gmail.com

May 7        Jamba Banana Man chase and Keiki Fun Run at Ala Moana Beach Park starts at 7am.  $25.
