Please consider nominating a special staff member or volunteer at Hale Kula! Each month, the PTO will be honoring one staff member and one volunteer with a $50 gift card. Winners will be selected via a random drawing where all nominees throughout the year are eligible.
Go to our school web page and click on the Hooray for Our Hale Kula Staff or Hooray for Our Volunteers link. Under "First Quarter - School Year 2013-2014," click on the image of the pencil to post a comment. We will approve your comment before publishing it.
Last year, we got lots of nominations! Let's increase our number this year!

Parent Volunteers -- We Need You!
Here's a link to an infographic about the importance of parent volunteers in our schools. We want and need your support as we strive to ensure success for every student at Hale Kula!
There are so many opportunities to get involved -- contact your child's teacher, PCNC (Parent Community Networking Center) coordinator Ellen Petry, or PTO President Jeri Duncan for more information.

School Community Council Facebook Virtual Meeting
Last year, our School Community Council hosted a Facebook Town Hall Meeting to discuss ways to improve teaching and learning at Hale Kula. This year, our SCC decided to hold two Virtual meetings via Facebook. The first one will be next Monday, August 26 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Anyone can join our virtual meeting (we opened it to the public). Go to our Hale Kula Eagles FB page and go to "More" and click on "Events." Sign up to join our meeting. We already have a number of people attending. We hope you will, too!

97% - Keep it Up!
Attendance has been great the first four days of SY2013-2014! 97% of our students have been in school and there are hardly any tardy students! YEAH!
Yes, kindergarten hasn't started yet, but nonetheless, I am encouraged that we will have fewer absent students this year. One of our goals is to improve attendance because learning is definitely impacted when students are not in school.
By the way, thank you for walking and biking to school! Traffic improves when fewer cars are on the road!
