The last day for order return is Sept 30th. We will be "feeding the monkeys" popcorn this Thursday after school. If your child is wearing their monkey, they can come to a special booth to get their monkey fed.

The cafeteria starts serving breakfast at 7:15, so they can be dropped at cafeteria door to get hot breakfast and then be supervised until 7:45 bell. Or just drop at front of school and EA’s will supervise them.

How Do You Use Math Every Day?

Recently, I was asked to share ideas on how parents can help their child with math and reading skills.  I think this is a great idea, and we will be sharing information with you -- activities you can do with your child or websites you can access.

First off, though, we would like to ask for your feedback.  We are asking parents to share how they use math at work and at home in their daily lives.  We want students to see why we teach math; we want them to see the relevance of math and why we need to know skills so we can solve problems.

Please copy and paste this link in your browser to provide us with feedback. http://goo.gl/Cw3MXD. We will post these comments on a bulletin board for everyone to see!

Thank you!

Book Fair Volunteers Needed!

If you have a couple of hours to spare and can help at the Hale Kula Book Fair (Sept. 23-Oct. 4) please complete this quick survey to let us know when you are available: http://goo.gl/lKBuw9

If you would like to help with the book fair, but cannot physically be here at school, bringing a "Treats for Teachers" treat is a great help also! (You will find this option at the bottom of the questionnaire). You can simply drop off a treat for the teachers to enjoy while they choose books for their class wish lists this year. The teachers very much appreciate this enjoyable time to further their classroom libraries.  Treats may be dropped off Monday, Sept. 23, before or right after school.

Thank you so much!

Parent-Teacher Conferences

A reminder that we will be ending school at 12:45 all week for Parent-Teacher Conferences.  You should have signed up for a time on-line at ptcfast.com.  Every teacher sent out a letter with a code specific to that classroom.  If you did not get a time, please contact your child's teacher ASAP so she/he can schedule a conference date and time for you.

We pride ourselves on having over 90% of our parents attending the parent-teacher conferences.  It is our hope that we will have a similar percentage this time around.  We realize that there may have been glitches or misunderstandings about signing up on-line, but those who signed up early shared that it was a breeze.  We intend to continue to use an on-line system for the next conferences in February.

Thank you, and hope your conferences go well!

IMPORTANT REMINDERS!

Important reminders for parents:
  • Parents: Remember to sign up on ptcfast.com for an upcoming date/time for your Parent-Teacher Conference next week. Each teacher has a code; if you don't have your letter, please check with your child's teacher or go to the office to ask. We're having a contest for teachers. Anyone who gets 90%-100% of their parents to sign up on-line and has 90%-100% of their parents attend the PT Conference will be eligible for a drawing. I hope the teachers are contacting you if you didn't sign up yet.
  • Federal Census Survey cards will be coming home tomorrow.  Please complete your card and send it back to school on Thursday, if possible.  Every student gets a card, and it is important to complete all of them because this is how the federal government determines Impact Aid funding.    Please, please return your cards to school.  Thank you!
By the way, have you seen the bulletin board by the cafeteria (parking lot side)?  We are an AVID school this year, and we are focusing on teaching Organizational skills.  Look at all the colleges and universities our teachers received their degrees from.  Can you guess which school your child's teacher attended?
